Scrap to Soul:
Mixed-Media Art & Meditation

Have you ever looked at that box of "I’ll use this one day" crafting supplies and wondered if they were just taking up space?

What if they were actually holding a story waiting to be told?

Turn leftover fabric, paper, and odds and ends into meaningful mixed-media art. Five unhurried hours. No skill needed.

Five unhurried hours to make something meaningful out of what was going to be thrown away.

Scrap to Soul is a mixed-media workshop at Parris Underground in Severna Park built on a simple idea: the things we've discarded still have something to say. Fabric offcuts, old paper, buttons, ribbon, fragments of past projects — we'll transform them into layered, textured art that means something to you.

This is a slower, longer format than our usual sessions. Five hours sounds like a lot until you're in it. There's time to start over, to sit with something, to make tea and come back to it. That spaciousness is the point.

How the Day Flows:

  • Opening breathwork and a short guided meditation to settle in

  • Introduction to mixed-media layering — genuinely beginner-friendly

  • Long open creating time, with one-on-one support whenever you want it

  • A break partway through

  • Closing circle and optional sharing

What to Bring:

  • Scraps that mean something to you, if you have them — old fabric, cards, photos, fragments of a project you never finished. Bring them even if you don't know what they're for yet.

  • Comfortable clothes. Snacks or lunch if you'd like — there's a break.

  • We will provide base materials, adhesives, additional crafting supplies, and tools, so come empty-handed if you'd rather.

Good to Know:

  • Who it's for: adults. Beginners very welcome.

  • Skill level: none required. This is about meaning, not technique.

  • Accessibility: seated at tables throughout. No floor work.

  • Small group so everyone gets real attention.
